Admit One Presents:The First Show’s 3rd Anniversary and Lister’s Party

Kwentuhan muna before I blog about the event last night…

So we were supposed to have dinner Saturday night at Alabang but then something came up so we had to re-schedule it some other time. Saturday night was supposed to be our gimik night. I just don’t want this moment to be wasted so I texted Paul if we can go to Saguijo, since Anniversary ng First Show and Admit One pa. Pumayag naman siya. So while waiting for him, I killed time in Tower Records listening to some new records by Panic At The Disco, Muse, and Deathcab For Cutie. Tapos surprisingly, may Hail To The Thief na available for free sound trip. Ganda. Electronic meets rock, the casual trademark of Radiohead. I liked 2+2=5, Sit up and Stand Up, Myxomatosis. Meron din ako nakita the best of Ramones, "Hey Ho Let’s Go", I want to buy the record but I feared that my dough was not enough. Tama lang pang gimik.

So medyo minalas ako since nag lowbat yung phone ko. I had to find a cell phone shop so I can at least borrow their charger. Malas, sarado na. Buti na lang open pa yung Nokia Service Center, so they allowed me to use thier charger.

So I mentioned that its Admit One tonight. May productions kasi ang mga bands like Revolver, Ninja Kiss, Kerplunk, Student Disco, Admit One, Play for Serve, Oh Inday, Princess Batugan etc. These productions have their line up of bands who will be performing in a specified date. Check out the website of Saguijo for their gig skeds. Admit One happens every 3rd Saturday of the month, with bands like Cambio, Happy Meals, Sugarfree (they were not there) and Twisted Halo (which dispanded recently… sad). Stonefree, Narda and Imago were I think guest bands, Im not sure.

We came at around 9:30 but the show started at around 10:30. I also asked my cousin if he can drop by since he lives near Buendia. But he just smoked outside and had beer.

The show kicked off with Narda. Boy, Narda was so terrific! Astig ng set nila! Powerful pa nung voice nung vocalist. They were also promoting their album kaya sila andun. They always get applauded after each song they play. Galing nila!

Happy Meals is an all Atenean Band. Maingay din set nila pero astig. Magaling din.

Next was Cambio. Gusto ko rin mga kanta nila. Maglalabas din sila ng new album. I was so happy that Patlang was played as their last song.

Trish and Russ Davis hosted the event, along with other listers. In between breaks nagpapa-contest sila where they were giving free NU stickers, shirts, a pair of Converse Chucks, and other surprise items. In one of the "contests", Trish popped a question kung paano naging ralated ang Cambio sa other bands, like you have to name 9 bands related to Cambio. The prize: you get to request a band of your choice to play for The First Set happening on Saturday morning, have a free seat in the NU booth, and co-host with Trish. Haha, exciting! So nag volunteer ako. I named SVC, Sandwich, Eraserheads, Fatal Posporos, Pedicab, Twisted Halo. Six pa lang yun but she needed nine. So nagbibigay siya ng clue. Nakalimutan ko yung The Dawn ni Buddy. Hehe tapos may bumulong sakin na Cupid, which is Buddy’s band daw. But anyhow, I got 3 stickers, and Trish asked my contact details and asked me which band I would like to play for The First Set. I told her Pedicab, she will try to contact them, pero my friend said that they had theirs already. I hope Trish will buzz me one of these days. It was fun!

The most awaited performance din was that of Twisted Halo. This was their last performance according to the hosts. They got disbanded. Sad. Since this was their last, dapat all out performance. So they were joined by Carlos of Updharmadown on guitars and Mr Raims Marasigan on guitars as well. Ang dami nilang tumugtog sa stage plus si Jason C din who really plays well. Magaling din siya. Their frontman Vin is Ebe’s brother. They just gave an awesome set. Ok din yung mga kanta. Ang galing nung Bawal (A Public Service Announcement), im not sure about the title of this song. But they have a video for this made by RA Rivera, who was also there. Ayun. It was a big loss; they could have soared higher from where they are right now. Pero malay natin, who knows…

The last band to play was Imago. Aia was still gorgeous as ever. They came all the way from Naga, and it shows that they were a bit tired, late na rin sila nag start around 2 pm na. They showcased their latest singles from the 3rd album. Sayang di kinanta yung Tara Lets.

Masaya din yung gig kasi maraming tao. Paul even met his blockmate who happens to be part of Narda, doing technical stuffs. we were sitting on the floor for like 4 hours tapos nung huli na lang kami nakaupo nung marami nang paalis. Anyhow it was a great night. Beer, live bands, music, people coming together to listen, enjoy, and have a good time. That was it, until….

Around 4 pm sa harap ng StarMall sa Shaw, we were waiting for a bus going to Alabang. Tapos in like 5 minutes they stayed there, bumaba sila sabay-sabay, kinapkapan lahat ng pasahero. We were just quiet and tried not to sleep and be aware of our belongings. Buti may dala kaming bags. Buti hindi nakuha yung cameras namin.

Yun lang for now, till the next gig! As Trish always says at the end of her show…. "Blessed be!" :)
